AI Camera Systems

The difference between a traditional surveillance setup and an AI camera system shows up the moment something happens on your property. Instead of recording everything and hoping you catch it later, AI cameras decide in real time what’s a person, what’s a vehicle, and what’s just a branch in the wind. GW Security’s lineup of AI retail security cameras covers over 200 configurations from 4-channel residential setups to 128-channel commercial builds, with NDAA- and TAA-compliant options for federal and enterprise procurement.

If you’re outfitting a warehouse, retail location, multi-tenant property, or any site where one camera blind spot can mean real losses, our camera systems provide the perfect solution.

What's in Our AI Lineup

Every system on this page ships with human and vehicle detection built in. Most include face recognition, two-way audio, and smart night vision with infrared. Cameras come in 8MP (4K) and 12MP resolutions across bullet, dome, and turret styles, all PoE-powered for clean single-cable installs.

What AI Does in a Security Camera System

The phrase "AI" gets thrown around a lot in surveillance marketing, so it's worth being specific about what GW's AI security cameras are doing.

  • Human and vehicle detection runs on every AI system we sell. The camera analyzes the shape, size, and motion pattern of whatever crosses its field of view and decides whether to alert you. A raccoon walking past your loading dock won't trigger an alert. A person will.

  • Face recognition is included in most AI configurations. Once enrolled, the system flags known faces versus unknown ones, which is useful for retail entry alerts, employee time tracking, or identifying a stranger the moment they step onto your property.

  • Area intrusion lets you draw a virtual boundary, such as across a back gate or around a piece of equipment, and only alerts you when that line is crossed.

  • Smart AI analytics on the NVR side means your footage is searchable. Need to find out how many times a delivery van pulled up last Tuesday? Filter by object type and time window.

How AI Retail Security Systems Help Loss Prevention

Retail loss prevention is one of the clearest use cases for AI surveillance camera technology. Traditional CCTV gives you a recording after the fact. AI cameras give you a live alert the moment someone lingers in a stockroom they shouldn't be in, or when a vehicle pulls into the back lot after hours.

Pair that with face recognition at the entry point and two-way audio so staff can address suspicious behavior in real time, and you've shifted from passive recording to active deterrence. The same logic applies to warehouses and contractor yards.

Planning Your Setup

Most commercial sites use between 8 and 32 channels, but we have configurations as small as 4 cameras and as large as 64-plus for larger facilities.

Camera style matters more than people realize:

  • Bullet cameras are obvious and serve as their own deterrent.

  • Dome cameras blend in and resist tampering.

  • Turret cameras give you a wide field of view with the IR performance of a bullet.

Most customers mix styles across their site. On lens choice, fixed lenses are simpler and cheaper. Motorized lenses let you adjust zoom and focus remotely, which is valuable on tall mounting points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do GW Security AI cameras require a subscription or cloud service to use the AI features?

No. AI processing happens locally on the camera and NVR, not in the cloud. There's no monthly fee for human detection, face recognition, or smart analytics. Footage is stored on the hard drive inside your NVR, and you can view it remotely through the mobile app at no extra cost.

Will an AI security camera system work over my existing network, or do I need a separate setup?

GW's AI camera systems are PoE-based, and the NVR has a built-in PoE switch with dedicated camera ports, so the cameras run on their own network segment off the recorder. You only connect the NVR itself to your main router for remote viewing. This keeps surveillance traffic off your business network, which is especially useful in retail and office environments where IT may not want it mixed in.

How much hard drive storage do I need, and can I upgrade it later?

Most of our AI systems ship with a 2TB surveillance-grade hard drive pre-installed in the NVR, expandable up to 24TB. Our NVRs use H.265 video compression, which roughly doubles storage efficiency compared to older H.264 systems, and you can set cameras to record only on AI detection events instead of 24/7 to cut usage further. If you need more storage than what ships in the box, we sell surveillance-rated drives separately.

Are GW Security's AI cameras compliant for government or federal contract work?

Our TAA-compliant AI systems also meet NDAA Section 889 requirements, which is the standard that matters most for federal procurement and any contractor working on federal sites. Together, NDAA and TAA compliance cover both country-of-origin and prohibited-component rules. If compliance is a hard requirement, call 626-350-0555 before ordering to confirm that the models on your build qualify.
