Do these cameras need the internet to record?

No. The recorder saves footage locally to the hard drive that ships inside it, so your cameras keep recording even if your internet drops. You only need a connection if you want to watch live or play back footage remotely through the free RXCamView app on your phone or tablet.

Is a hard drive included, and how much footage will it hold?

Yes. A hard drive comes pre-installed and formatted, so the recorder is ready to go out of the box. How long it holds depends on your resolution, camera count, and recording settings. Use GW Security's free Storage Calculator to estimate what you need, or call, and the team will size it with you.

Can I reuse my existing coax wiring, or add IP cameras later?

Usually, yes, on the wiring. Because these cameras connect over BNC and coax, you can often run them on the coaxial cable an older analog system left behind. These kits also use a hybrid XVR recorder rather than a basic DVR, so depending on the model, you can add IP cameras down the line. If you know you want a fully PoE setup, start with GW Security's HD PoE/IP systems instead.
