What is TAA Compliant?

TAA stands for the Trade Agreements Act. It’s a U.S. federal law that governs the purchases made by the federal government. The TAA requires that products purchased by the U.S. government be made or substantially transformed in countries that are considered “designated countries” under the act, which generally includes countries with which the U.S. has negotiated trade agreements.

To be considered TAA compliant, a product must be manufactured or substantially transformed in one of these designated countries. This compliance is crucial for companies that wish to sell products to the U.S. government, as failure to meet TAA requirements can disqualify a product from being purchased or used in federal government projects and contracts.
